I grew up here in Scarborough where I spent my childhood running around the woods and marsh which helped me to develop a love of the natural world from an early age. After moving to Washington state for college and spending some time adventuring around the west I moved back to Maine in 2017 and back to Scarborough in 2021. In the wake of the “ICE surge” in Maine I learned that our district’s seat in the house would be open and, not seeing anyone else who would treat the twin emergencies of Climate Change and Crumbling Democracy as the crises they are, I decided to step up and offer to serve my community.
As a Maine Guide my job is to assess risk, make a plan, and ensure my team carries out our goals in a safe and fun manner. In the legislature, I will bring this perspective to ensuring that the consequences of policies are carefully weighed and measured, and that they are always working towards our goal of a happy, healthy, thriving society.
As an Educator my job is to help children learn and grow, in a kind, just, and caring way. This perspective keeps me focused on legislating empathetically and ethically, and gives me the skills to have tough conversations and find common ground.
As a student of politics, history, and economics, I have the technical knowledge to write good policy, the curiosity to ensure I am consulting all experts and stakeholders, and the big picture view to see how events of today fit into larger patterns and trends.
